A divorced woman determined to become a mother tries desperate measures with some help from her friends who want her to. The play Donor Party is explicitly sexual and frank about women’s sexuality in the contemporary world. The central figure understands well time running out as she approaches menopause. She has not been successful in finding a lifetime partner. Random unprotected flings with random guys, no strings attached – all baby no daddy. I did chuckle a bit at the cringe-worthy story, but it was sort of disgusting. These acts were risky and immoral and lead to high rate of STIs.

At a flower shop, Jaclyn (Malin Åkerman) bumps into her ex-husband Todd (Ryan Gaul) and his new wife (Brit Morgan). Seeing him with another woman’s baby while she was with his child left Jaclyn dispirited. It had been Jaclyn’s dream that they would have children together.Todd cheated on her, married and had children with the younger lover. Weeping Jaclyn confides in her two closest friends Molly (Erinn Hayes) and Amandine (Bria Henderson). He didn’t want kids from Jaclyn.

She makes up mind to conceive by herself without any husband . Artificial insemination is expensive whereas adoption can take years. But accidental pregnancy brought about by anonymous donation of sperm is totally free of charge . They would never meet again these strangers . As for him , there would be no responsibility attached for being a father. He would be responsible for only one individual; herself.

For Geoff’s birthday party, Molly arranges everything. She along with Amandine will bring three great potential candidates; good looking gentlemen who are seemingly smart as well as successful. For once in her life ,Jaclyn dresses like a hooker.Making little pinpricks through the condom packet. This also happened to be an uneventful night at the office.Jaclyn goes wild on this night. They do not get laid… by anyone.

The Donor Party presents its initial concept in the strongest terms possible. While there is no nudity, it is filled with naughtiness. Amandine( who is a lesbian ) encourages Jaclyn to dirty it up.Something comes up and they (the men) don’t want to be one time things.Nope, they don’t just want her once.

They have chosen Jaclyn as their prowler because of the calibre of men who are attending this party. No STD checks were done on them. They all knew each other’s people.Whereas the movie seems to recognize this loophole yet it remains unresolved.Jaclyn places herself at risk and those that she has sex with. Her purposeful promiscuity switches into an unprotected sexual relationship leading to dangerous conditions such as drug resistant gonorrhea epidemic.

Jaclyn detests elderly males who go after young girls. She thinks they only need her for sex.Ironically, this choice made by Jaclyn to manipulate that fact actually makes it worse. The film fails to realize that any woman can get pregnant from a one-night stand.Jaclyn did not have to go through hoops. Her decision becomes much harder once she has committed herself as a single mother. The real process is cumbersome adoption further validates her wish for kids.It must be hard and well thought out. As much as this may be crude comedy I hate The Donor Party for having had pretentious moments about sexuality and parenting in an otherwise funny film.
