For what reason would a man build the tallest structure in the world? That question is answered by Eiffel’s film, an old-fashioned romance that will touch your heartstrings. France’s iconic tower gets an ages-long forbidden love tale. For this unattainable woman, a brilliant engineer changes architectural history. Eiffel is part national hero and part male sex god. Passionate kisses quicken pulses, laces are loosened and corsets fly.

On March 31, 1889 Gustave Eiffel (Romain Duris) stands at the peak of his monumental accomplishment with Paris’s splendor all about him Then he breathes deeply as he thinks back to three years ago when he was there filming scenes for his movie . September 1886 sees Gustave made an honorary United States citizen. He achieved worldwide fame for his steel framework that bears the Statue of Liberty. The government in France wants something grand from him at the World’s Fair. To be sure, Gustave wants to design the city’s metro systems. He guffaws when shown a simple model of a tower which would beat Washington Monument’s height The significant funds spent should be on something that will benefit the common citizen.

A dinner thrown in honor of his achievement brings back painful memories to Gustave Eiffel. And then it dawns upon him that Antoine de Restac (Pierre Deladonchamps) has brought along his beautiful spouse Adrienne (Emma Mackey). In response, they give each other one fierce look before pretending not to know each other at all – as if their eyes were meeting across a crowded room! A tower in Paris could symbolize France itself, claims Adrienne Bourgès on seeing them off. This makes everyone gasp when Eiffel declares that he intends to put up a three-hundred-meter high building called “the tower”. Meanwhile, working late into the night in his office after a busy day, Eiffel recalls the construction of a bridge at Bordeaux twenty years before. It is here that he is introduced to Adrienne Bourges, an heiress from a wealthy family.

Eiffel is told in three different time periods. We see Gustave and Adrianne’s relationship bloom, mysteriously fall apart and finally reconnect after many years under adverse circumstances. The whole truth about what happened between them will come out by the end of this movie. Then Gustave’s affection for Adrienne becomes such that he cannot leave her as the project comes under siege. Local people are very angry with it because it is quite ugly to look at, but workers have just gone on strike demanding increased levels of pay . Married to Antoine de Restac (Pierre Deladonchamps) – which she deeply regrets – she begs him to stay even though she knows that he cannot as his wife would never allow this affair . He understands there’s something between Adrianne and him while pretending otherwise , i.e., they are not strangers However, when Antoine tries to sabotage his work, things become more complicated.

There can be no denying Romain Duris and Emma Mackey had great chemistry on set. Young lovers were magnetic characters who couldn’t keep their hands off each other tearing each other’s clothes off whilst hiding from her parents’ eyes The secret adult affair was marked by stolen glances, light touches and illicit rendezvous out of sight This gentleman came from nothing but managed to learn more than anyone else She was just a rich girl who came from an affluent family They ran the gamut of emotion from pure joy to utter heartbreak

Martin Bourboulon directed Papa ou Maman French films which were widely viewed making him popular among local viewers. Moreover the love story does not overpower the tower throughout this film In addition, there are subplots concerning Eiffel’s daughter (Armande Boulanger) that also include him trying to get some capital. The production design, sets and cinematography are all amazing. The drama and romance are poured into the formation of the tower. Everything in it makes sense when we put all of the different elements together.

Eiffel can be derogated for its anachronisms and fantastic dreams. At the beginning, Adrienne acts as a damsel in distress to attract Gustave’s eyes. Her role is far from being a submissive one. It serves initially as a symbol for France, but eventually it becomes a French landmark. Love can make you do stupid things. I’ve always been weak when it comes to love stories.
